Case Study: Macquarie University
Macquarie University is on track to becoming one of Australia's leading research universities, currently ranked within the top 10 tertiary academic institutions in the country, Macquarie's 126 hectare park-like campus sets a serene environment ideal for students to discover and learn. Its location within the high-technology corridor of Syndey's north positions the University in close intimacy with some of the world's most successful technology-driven organisations, many of whom are located in the University's research park allowing an affirmatively collaborative approach to research and teaching.
Engaging students in support resources and campus life is widely recognised as vital to the retention, success and satisfaction of students on campus. With this vision in mind, Macquarie University embarked on a campus-wide digital signage system as a communication platform for internal communications and public announcements. The network was implemented by Be Digital and collaboratively maintained with assistance from the University. Comprising of a number of LCD screens, and a large format 3.84x2.88 metre LED display, the digital signage has been since used to broadcast world cup matches, graduation ceremonies, live video feeds from conception day and Twitter messages.
